“We are confident the product will be a sort after product globally bringing in the much needed foreign exchange to the country beginning with our first export to Europe,” he said. The novel Nanoparticle solution with its formula of silver Ion and zinc ion has been tested and proved to be effective against bacteria, viruses and fungi which are infectious and contagious.

The product has been tested in the US, UK and Japan.

“The healthcare product was developed in Japan with a MoU signed with the University of Tokyo and now we have applied for patent rights,” Abeysinghe said.

The company plans to embark on a campaign to market the product in the global market targeting industries such as healthcare, aviation, navel, transportation, manufacturing, services and hospitality as a safer and sustainable option in managing microbial activities. With innovative Japanese technology of silver ion antimicrobial healthcare coating and Medifresh antimicrobial healthcare coating, the product provides better hygiene and health ensuring sustainable protection, prevention from spreading infectious diseases and elimination of microorganisms.

Medifresh healthcare coating is effective in inhibiting a wide range of infectious diseases caused by microorganisms with silver and zinc ions being nonselective antimicrobial agents which inhibits the growth of viruses, bacteria and fungi.

Healthcare institutions and service providers, hospitals, medical centres, pharmacies, schools, daycare centres, banks, government entities, residences are some of the target market segments for Medifresh. The application prevents the spread of infectious diseases in surfaces of primary contacts points such as door handles, surfaces in reception areas, counters, offices, resident areas, kitchens, restaurants, passenger transport and public transportation vehicles.
