Permission has been granted by health authorities to reopen the country’s stage drama and performance theatres from July 15 with the condition that a maximum of only 50 percent of the full capacity of seats could be filled.
The Government Information Department said in a press release today that the permission to reopen the theatres has been granted under strict health conditions.
It said Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe has stressed the need to strictly follow the health guidelines to prevent a spread of COVID-19.
The Government previously announced that it has also decided to reopen cinemas from tomorrow.
Co-Cabinet Spokesman Dr Bandula Gunawardana stated that film halls would be permitted to resume operations at a maximum 50 percent capacity.
