3 July, 2020

Employees of Colombo port have decided to end their strike following a discussion with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

A decision was taken at the meeting to unload the three Gantry Cranes which have been imported from China at the Eastern terminal.

Earlier, the decision to carry out the strike was backed by all trade unions unanimously demanding to roll back the decision of privatizing the Eastern Terminal, which is the only terminal that can cater to the huge ships, a trade union activist said.
