Thomian achievers awarded

St. Thomas’ Catholic International College held its annual prize-giving recently awarding prizes for accomplishments in studies.

Former Chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission Dr. Nalaka Godahewa was the Chief Guest. Director Priestly Formation, Promoter Priestly Vocations Coordinator – Prisons Apostolate/Parish Renewal, Rev. Fr. Freely Muthukudaarachchi, Founder of Holy Trinity Foundation, Attidiya, Dehiwala, Ranjan Gomez were the Guests of Honour with Rector/Principal, Rev. Fr. Kennedy Perera, Vice Rector, Rev. Fr. Malintha Chathuranga and the members of the staff. Many priests, religious, other distinguished personalities and parents participated.

Students who excelled in their studies from Primary 1 to Form 4 were awarded prizes for their achievements. School colours were awarded to Vihanga Nethmal Wettasinghe, S. P. Nimesha, Ushan Sasinda, Mithila Shanon Adrian, Rusiru Thejaka Silva and Senul Perera for athletics. Shenal Malmith Fonseka received school colours for Karate and was also awarded the Best Sportsman of the year award. Chanul Costa received school colours for Cadeting while Mithila Methnim walked away with school colours for qualifying as a 'Sharpshooter’ in Air Pistol Shooting Championship. Students who excelled at the Cambridge examination were also recognised at the awards ceremony.

Founded in 2008, St. Thomas’ Catholic International College, is the first of its kind in Sri Lanka that provides traditional and integral Catholic formation within the sphere of an international educational curriculum.

The College offers education in English to children who are deprived of the opportunity due to exorbitant charges.

STIC is equipped with a fully equipped kindergarten, Holy Trinity Chapel, swimming pool, STIC playground and cricket pitch, JKP Arena Theatre, Mother Theresa Café, Sports complex housing badminton court and gymnasium, laboratories and a fully equipped auditorium.
