A trip to Rekawa

12 July, 2020

Rekawa is a coastal area close to Hambantota. It is a turtle sanctuary. I visited Rekawa recently with my parents and some of my friends. In the night, turtles come to the seashore to lay eggs. We spent the night on the beach watching turtles. There were many types of crabs too. We saw four turtles laying eggs. After laying the eggs they went back to the sea. At a time, each turtle laid around one hundred eggs at a time. We also visited the Rekawa lagoon to see the mangrove habitat.

It was an enjoyable and unforgettable trip. We learnt many about nature.
