All propaganda rallies organized by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna were temporarily suspended until further notice. The directive was issued by the founder and the national organizer of the SLPP Basil Rajapaksa.
According to the directive the propaganda rallies scheduled on Monday (13), Tuesday (14) and Wednesday (15) with the participation of SLPP leader Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa were temporarily suspended, the SLPP in a statement dated July 12, 2020 singed by SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam said.
The statement furthered that Basil Rajapaksa has requested all SLPP organizers to limit election meetings. He has also requested the organizers to follow strict measures when holding such pocket meetings.
The statement also said that further notices of propaganda rallies and meetings shall be issued later on.
