Seven new movies and shows coming to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar this week

 In this week’s fresh releases, expect a billionaire partaking in the American Presidential elections, four strangers developing profound emotional connections while being detained in Australia unlawfully, a group of mercenaries living in isolation to keep their long-held secret, and a lot more. Here’s the lowdown on everything that you should be looking out for.  Richard Jewell (Releases July 6) 

A security guard at the 1996 Olympics Games, Richard Jewell spots a suspicious package which is soon confirmed a bomb by an explosives expert. He is heralded as a hero when he, along with his team, police officers and FBI agents skew away the crowd as the bomb detonates. The film showcases the real-life Centennial Olympic Park bombings that took place on July 27, 1996.

Streaming on Amazon Prime Video Stateless (Released: July 8) 

The six-episode drama takes some of its plot points from the life of Cornelia Rau, a permanent resident of Australia who was detained unlawfully. The story revolves around four strangers in an immigration detention centre—each being held for a different reason—and how they develop deep emotional connections amidst all this.

Based on its namesake comic book, The Old Guard is about a group of mercenaries who are kept in isolation to safeguard their centuries-old secret. Before an enemy can replicate their powers after a sudden turn of events, they have to fight for their freedom.

Streaming on Netflix  Breathe: Into the Shadows (Releases July 10) 

The gritty Indian drama follows its preceding season, Breathe, which delved into the lives of ordinary people facing crime and death.

An unconventional officer was seen fitting every piece of the puzzle to successfully draw a connection between their stories. In the second season, releasing this week, Abhishek Bachchan plays a father on a quest to save his children.

Streaming on Amazon Prime Video  A Star is Born (Released: July 11) 

The 2018 romantic-drama is about a seasoned musician named Jackson “Jack” Maine, who falls for a struggling young singer, Ally. As he encourages Ally not to give up and work hard to achieve her dreams, he is fighting his own internal demons. The lead roles were played by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, making it a breakout release.

Streaming on Netflix Your Excellency (Released: July 11) 

The political-comedy centres around Chief Olalekan Ajadi, a billionaire and failed Presidential candidate. However, with a powerful social media presence, he becomes a credible contender.
