Boxing office bearers to be elected uncontested

26 July, 2020

Boxing officials are expected to be elected uncontested to the Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is to be held on August 20.

An official told the Sunday Observer that the office bearers will be elected through a unanimous decision.

He also said that current boxing head Dian Gomes will be re-elected as president for a third term while the other office bearers too will be elected without a contest.

The Asian Boxing Confederation (ABC) will also be conducting a special meeting early next month to decide whether Meets will be conducted for the rest of this year.

“We have decided to abandon all local meets for this year and wish to conduct the National Boxing Championship as a selection trial next year. We have also decided to call off all age group meets among schoolboys for the year,” he said.
