The first Randoli Perahera took to the streets on Friday as planned without the participation of the public due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The first Kumbal Perahera paraded the streets on July 25 after the ‘Kap’ planting ceremony on July 21. The last Randoli Perahera will be held on August 3 and the ‘Diyakapum’ Perahera and the Day Perahera on August 4.
The annual offering of bees honey by the Adhivasi community to the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy for the Esala Perahera was held on Thursday. Veddha Chief Uruwarige Wannilaththo and other Adhivasi leaders first offered the bees honey to the sacred shrine and met the Diyawadana Nilame and his family members and presented them with the bees honey.
