Hema Kumari Wijetunga who introduced hockey to Seethadevi Girls College and was also the principal of this school and later principal at St. Anthony’s Convent, passed away and her funeral will take place today (Sunday) at Jagahapitiya .
She was one time president of the Kandy Schools Hockey Association and Sri Lanka Schools hockey Association.
She was also a great hockey promoter and gave a big hand for the sport in Kandy. (HM)
