Former Sri Lanka centre Jude Pillai will be elected uncontested as the new secretary of Sri Lanka Rugby at its election to be held on August 29 and contends the challenge will be greater than his playing days.

It will mark the first time that the former St. Anthony’s College winger will function in a major capacity after being around in administration for many years since his retirement from the game.

“Anything that you do with responsibility is a big challenge,” said Pillai referring to his new role after hanging up his boots in 2002.

He said opening up better communication links with Asia Rugby and World Rugby to ensure Sri Lanka benefits will be one of his primary functions.

All members of the new administration will be elected uncontested including its head Rizly Illyas.

New office bearers of Sri Lanka Rugby:

President: Rizly Illyas
Deputy President: Nazeem Mohamed
Vice President: Rear Admiral HAUD Hettiarachchi
Secretary: Jude Pillai
Treasurer: Dinesh Anthony Perera

Committee Members: Fazal Mohamed, Roshan Deen, Jivan Goonatilleke, Niranjan Abeywardena, Bandula Mallikarachchi, Pavithra Fernando, Paradeep Basnayake and Samantha Nanayakkara
