8,000 Health Officials deployed at polling centres

The Health Ministry has deployed around 8,000 officials at polling centres for tomorrow’s General Election, Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe said.

According to Dr. Jasinghe, individuals who undergo quarantine at their own homes after completing the compulsory quarantine period of 14 days at quarantine centres, can go and vote at their relevant polling centre between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. It is recommended to use their own transport to travel to and from the polling centres. All who are discharged can vote as any other voter. No individuals in quarantine centres will be allowed to vote, he added. Dr. Jasinghe pointed out that Provincial Health Services Directors will look after the districts and MOHs of all relevant areas will be responsible for the relevant area, and they will deploy their field officers. All polling centres of the country will be monitored, he added.
