The Supreme Court (SC) will not function on 5th and 6th of August 2020 as the SC staff are engaging in Parliamentary Election duty, the SC registrar has announced.
The Supreme Court Registrar Pradeep Mahamuthugala in a notice announced that the cases which are listed for 5th and 6th of August will be listed as to be mentioned matters on August 7 at 2pm.
Meanwhile, registrar of the Court of Appeal (CA) also announced that CA will not function on 5th of August 2020 as the required staff is not likely to be at its full strength, owing to the elections. Accordingly, the cases fixed for 5th of August will be mentioned on 7th of August and given alternative dates. The Court of Appeal Registrar Sarath Kumara Pinnaduwa further announced that CA session will be conducted only till half past noon on August 6. The CA further announced that there will be a vacation court of the CA at 10 am in August 2020.
