The voting of general election 2020 was successfully concluded today at 5.00 in the evening with a voter turnout that exceeded 70% island wide.
The counting process shall begin tomorrow from 7.00 in the morning.
The voting was carried out with strict adherence to all the health regulations which were implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The overall voting situation was peaceful apart from few minor incidents that were related to election violations. A special security plan was carried out by the police when transporting ballot boxes where each ballot box was provided with a police officer in charge.
