The names for the SLPP National List have been handed over to the Election Commission, while the names for the Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) National List will be handed over to the Election Commission tomorrow.
The SJB was holding discussions to decide on the nominees to fill their seven National List slots at the time this paper going to the press.
Authoritative sources denied that the SJB has finalised the National List and said that a list circulating in social media attributed to the SJB is fake. The Illangei Tamil Arasu Katchchi (ITAK) was also holding discussions to decide the party nominee on the National List with names, such as Ambica Satkunanathan, Mavai Senathiraja who lost the August 5 election and two others being considered to fill the one National List slot the ITAK has won.
The UNP which lost all seats in the election is also expected to decide on its single National List slot on Monday.
The SLPP National List has been handed over to the Election Commission.
The SLPP National List nominees are Professor G.L. Peiris, Sagara Kariyawasam, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, President’s Counsel Ali Sabry, President’s Counsel Jayantha Weerasinghe, Manjula Dissanayake, Professor Ranjith Bandara, Dr Charitha Herath, Gevindu Kumaratunga, A.J.M Muzammil, Professor Tissa Vitharana, Yadamini Gunawardena, Dr.Suren Raghavan, Tiran Alles, Dr Seetha Arambepola, Jayantha Ketagoda and Mohamed Faleel Marjan.
