Sri Lanka’s Covid-19 recovery rate tops 90 percent

Sri Lanka’s Covid-19 recovery rate recorded 90.74 percent yesterday, while all other countries suffered a high Covid-19 fatality rate and a low recovery rate, Epidemiology Unit sources said.

The global Covid-19 recovery rate is 64.19 percent while it is 68.35 percent in India which has advanced medical facilities. The USA recorded a recovery rate of 51.36 percent and Russia, 77.93 percent.

The Covid-19 fatality rate reported in Sri Lanka is 0.39 percent while it is 3.7 percent in the world (the global rate). The fatality rate in India is 2.04 percent, USA 3.22 percent and in Russia 1.68 percent, the sources said.

At present, 252 Covid-19 patients (8.9 percent of the total number of patients reported in Sri Lanka so far) are in selected hospitals receiving treatment (active cases) while all others have recovered fully and discharged from hospitals. From February 18, 169,826 PCR tests have been conducted in Sri Lanka. Thirty-eight (not diagnosed as Covid-19 patients) are in selected hospitals for further investigations, the sources added.
