Professor Dhammika Ganganath Dissanayake (62) died while being treated at Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama, sources said.
Prof.Dissanayake a former Head of the Sinhala Faculty at the Sri Jayawardenepura University had served as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Japan. He was also the Chiairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and the Independent Television Network (ITN) several years back.
Author of several publications including mass communication, contemporary Sinhala cinema and political communication, Professor Dhammika Ganganath Dissanayake was widely known for his column series ‘Pani Walalu’ penned to a Sinhalese weekly.
