Gazette issued summoning Parliament on Thursday

A new gazette notice was issued on Thursday specifying the summoning of the new Parliament at 9.30 am on Thursday (20) by virtue of the powers vested in him by Article 70 of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had earlier issued a gazette to summon Parliament on Thursday, 20 August.

The Parliament, convening on the 20th of August, will proceed by electing the Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Deputy Chairperson of Committees respectively, after which all members will take the official oaths or affirmation.

Health guidelines specified by the Health Ministry will be adhered to during the parliamentary sitting.
