My school is Zahira College, Colombo 10. It is a boy’s college. There are about 5,000 students and 200 teachers in my school.

We sing the National Anthem and the school anthem every morning. The college has one of the oldest mosques in the country. Zahira means excellence in Arabic.

The Principal of my school is Trizvy Marikkar. The college has Grades from 1-13 (Sinhala, English and Tamil medium). The founders of my school are; Ahmed Urabi, A.M.Wapichi Marikkar and M.C.Siddi Lebbe.

It was established on August 22, 1892; 127 years ago.

There are four houses in my school. They are: Angora of Turkey, Baghdad of Iraq, Cordova of Spain and Istanbul of Turkey.
