Defence Secretary Major General (Rtd) Kamal Gunaratne presented the novel Pathalayo and the English translation of the book Gotabaya to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa recently at Kularatne Hall, Ananda College, Colombo.The novel Pathalayo is based on a series of true events.

The Sinhala book Gotabaya was released last year and this time around its English adaptation was released. Kamal Gunaratne had earlier written five books titled Ranamaga Osse Nandikadal in Sinhala and its English adaptation including Road To Nandikadal, Kadol Aththu, Uththara Devi and Gotabaya.

The English adaptation of Pathalayo and Gotabaya are the 6th and 7th books written by him. He presented the first copy of the two books to the Maha Sangha led by the Ven. Itthapane Dhammalankara Nayaka Thera, the Head of the Sri Kalyani Samaggi Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha. The books were then presented to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Chief Adviser to the President Lalith Weeratunga delivered the keynote address at the event. The author was introduced by Vishwa Rajapaksa, an alumnus of Ananda College and a lecturer in Sinhala.

Nalaka Godahewa, Secretaries to Ministries, former Army Commanders and current Army Commanders were present.
