Over 100 health projects before year’s end

13 September, 2020

Over 100 health development projects built at a cost of over Rs. 1,100 million will be launched before the end of this year, Senior Communication Officer of the Primary Health Care Systems Strengthening Project, Suneth Janaka Bandara said.

He said state hospitals in all nine provinces will be developed under this World Bank funded project.

Laboratories of selected state hospitals will be developed under the project and, thereafter, samples from all other state hospitals will be tested at these modernised laboratories.

Bandara said a mobile laboratory service will be launched to visit people’s homes and collect samples for medical tests. At present, only some private hospitals in the country offer this service.

All details of this project and others will be computerised to obtain details instantly. The President too could ascertain the progress of these projects online, he said.

By the end of last month double cabs were given to MOH offices in all 25 districts to offer a better service to the public under this project while motor-cycles were provided to 807 PHIs under the same project, he added.
