Sri Lanka’s racing drivers and riders will be back on the track after a lapse of over six months due to the Covid-19 pandemic lock-down when the Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club conducts the ‘Kanway’meet on October 11 with 20 events for motorcycle and cars.

These events have attracted almost all leading drivers and riders in the country except four Motor car categories. The four car events that will not be run on this day are 1600cc Class, Honda one-make, SLGT up to 3500cc and the Subaru Legacy 2000cc class.

Seventy drivers and over 100 riders have confirmed their participation for theses events.

Two young female riders Hansika Abeysinghe and Sushmi Solanki are expected to challenge the male riders in events up to 125cc categories.

In fact Hansika has done well on this track beating the men on many occasions and she is expected to repeat the same here on this day.

Meanwhile Sushmi Solanki too is one rider who is capable of challenging Hansika in the 125cc Open class.

The only female driver Kaushalya Ariyadasa will be seen in action for the first time on this track competing in a Nissan March category along with the men in the absence of famed driver Shehara Jayawardena.

The highly classed Gunawardena brothers Aaron and Jaden riding in the higher classes are sure to be the challenge for other leading riders in the caliber of Maduranga Caldera and Dushan Mudalige.

Minister for Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa will be the chief guest while the guests of honour will be Muttiah Muraideran, Lasith Malinga and former Olympian Sriyani Kulawansa.
