The Government will do its utmost to encourage small and medium scale millers to control the increasing prices of rice, Samurdhi, Household Economy, Microfinance, Self-employment, Business Development, and Underutilised State Resources Development State Minister Shehan Semasinghe said.
He said the Government would do justice to both consumers and millers.
The State Minister told a meeting with the small and medium scale millers in Anuradhapura that District Secretaries supported to purchase paddy during the Covid-19 pandemic. In the face of the resurgence of Covid-19 cases, it was agreed to put in place a collective mechanism again to supply rice to the local market without shortage. The financial assistance of banking institutions will also be sought. The millers requested the authorities to streamline their industry.
