The foundation stone laying ceremony was held at Zahira College Colombo for the Zahira Sports Complex recently and by the Board of Governors and Old Boys Association under the patronage of the school’s head Trizviy Marikkar.
Firoze Limited Chairman and Phoenix Ventures Limited Director Mohamed Haji Omar was the chief guest at this event.
The Sports Complex will consist of facilities for the visiting and home teams, gymnasium, squash court, indoor games area for carom and chess, basketball, badminton, boxing, riffle shooting, table tennis and volley ball.
The present sports activities at the College such are cricket, football, rugby football, hockey, swimming and athletics. The Sports Complex is the biggest project undertaken by Project Chairman by Jisthy Fahmi.
Ash-Sheikh Arkam Nooramith, Deputy Mayor of Colombo MTM Iqbal, Chairman of the Board of Governors Fouzul Hameed, Secretary Alavi Mukthar, Treasurer Hilal Sanoon, Old Boys Association President Naina Mohamed, Secretary Nuzri Munsoor, Members of the Old Boys Association and Parents Teachers Association, prefects and students were also present at the ceremony.
