Newly appointed Sri Lankan Ambassador to China, Dr. Palitha T. B. Kohona assumed duties at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Beijing recently.
Addressing the embassy staff, Dr. Kohona emphasised the need for all to engage proactively with the local authorities, as well as the Chinese community.
He said, “It was also important to develop links with the business community. Our objective should be to further enhance the image of Sri Lanka in China, strengthen Sri Lanka-China bilateral relations, and promote Sri Lanka as a welcome destination for foreign direct investments and also encourage bilateral trade links.
Dr. Kohona said that China presented
a vast opportunity to Sri Lanka given its surging economy, astounding advancements in science and technology and agriculture.
