Dananjaya ‘cleared’ to bowl

10 January, 2021

Sri Lanka spinner Akila Dananjaya has been cleared to bowl by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after he was banned for throwing the ball on two occasions.

The lifting of his ban comes after Sri Lanka Cricket said it provided the ICC with evidence of his “remodelled action” which in terms of delivering the ball is within the permitted 15 degrees for a slow bowler.

A media statement said that Danajaya now bowls with a legal action and should be permitted to bowl in international cricket according to ICC regulations.

The ICC banned Dananjaya for a second time within a period of two years from his first suspension in December 2018.
