There have been indications that Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa, who himself highly values the role played by the media in the welfare of sports, has decided to find out the reasons behind the exclusion of the media for the England-Sri Lanka cricket series starting in Galle on Thursday.

Sri Lanka Cricket while permitting its officials and their friends to patronize matches like spectators do, decided to block out journalists, who are not cricket fans in any way, from reporting on the proceedings under cover of coronavirus.

According to a Ministry official, Minister Rajapaksa has been talking to all parties he knows will be able to facilitate independent coverage of the Test series which is part of the ICC World Test Championship.
