What is wrong with the Selectors?

10 January, 2021

The continuous exclusion of batsman Isuru Udara Igalagamage is continuing to baffle all Sri Lankans.

He was the highest scorer in the domestic season with 1039 runs and not even able to get a feel of what international Test cricket is about, discarded for the two-Tests against South Africa in which the proven players were deployed and lost.

He is now not even in a provisional squad for a home series against England.

Analysts say the Selection Committee which has been swelled up to seven members will have 101 reasons to justify the exclusion of Igalagamage as well as the humiliating loss to South Africa without the uncapped batsman who could now find himself under more pressure given the unprofessional manner in which he was treated.

Sri Lanka Cricket has remained silent on how and why its players, or the country’s players to be more precise, are made to face such unbearable treatment.
