An individual infected with the United Kingdom (UK) variant of coronavirus has been identified, stated Dr.Sudath Samaraweera, Chief Epidemiologist of the Academy of Epidemic Diseases Unit.
The infected person has arrived from the UK one or two weeks ago to Sri Lanka.
Since this new variant is highly contagious, Sri Lanka banned flights from the UK on December 22 December.
