Anika and Janali enter women’s singles final

Anika Seneviratne and Janali Manamperi entered the final in the women’s singles event at the National Tennis Championship 2020 played at the SLTA courts yesterday.

Top seed Anika Seneviratne beat Savini Jayasuriya in straight sets but was made to fight all the way in the second set. Janali Manamperi defeated Hasali Gajaba in straight sets without having to face stiff challenge.

The men’s doubles quarter-finals were also completed.

The upset of the day is the loss of Rukmal Cooray and men’s singles top seed Sharmal Dissanayake to Chathurya Nelaweera and Thehan Wijemanne in straight sets.

Anika Seneviratne beat savini Jayasuriya 6/1, 7/6 (1)
Janali Manamperi beat Hasali Gajaba 6/4, 6/1.
Men’s doubles (quarter-finals)
Dilvan Herath and Archana Lokuge beat Kavisha Ratnayake and Akila Vimukthi 6/4, 6/7(1), 11/9.
Nishendiran Sivendran and Michael Siyaguna beat Luca Knese and Dumindu Dilum 6/3, 6/3.
Chathurya Nelaweera and Thehan Wijemanne beat Rukmal Cooray and Sharmal Dissanayake 6/2, 6/3.
