Sri Lankan student launches her second poetry book in Australia

24 January, 2021

Sri Lankan student Aamina Musthafa from Birrong Girls High School, Sydney, Australia launched her second poetry book  Alone with a Lifetime at  the Granville Centre, Sydney recently.

She is a past pupil of Ilma International Girls’ School, Colombo. Aamina moved to Australia with sisters, Hajara and Sameena and parents Ziyada and Musthafa, when she was in Grade eight. She has always been a creative person, however, creativity wasn’t something that she was encouraged to explore until her English teacher at MIEC asked her to keep a creative journal. This resulted in her love of poetry.

She thanked her friends Ashma Riyas and Rana Haidari, her family and Ms Bolanca - an English teacher from her school who were present at the event to support her. Aamina thanked the Story Factory for this opportunity and Bilal and Richard who felicitated workshops every Thursday afternoon via Zoom and at the Parramatta Story Factory to help produce this collection of poetry.
