RDB Ragama and Negombo branches to develop fishing industry

14 February, 2021

A multiday fishing trawler year was recently declared open in the Pamunugama area by RDB Bank Chairman Mahinda Saliya on the invitation of Regional General Manager of the Western Province of the RDB Bank Cecil de Silva for the development of fishing industry with the intention of contributing the fish harvest to the national economic development.

By now, moulds for 50 ft boats are being manufactured and it is expected to widen the production up to 60 feet boats. Loans for this are proposed to be provided by the Ragama Branch and these vessels are manufactured targeting the local and foreign markets. Already employment opportunities have been provided to 24 persons and it is commendable.
