Cycling Sunday is a novel idea presented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, Sri Lanka Police, and the Spinner Cycling Centre to encourage recreational activities among people who live in cities and areas surrounding them (urban areas). The pilot project started on January 31 under the patronage of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Namal Rajapaksa. Every Sunday from 4 p.m to 7 p.m a lane would be allocated for the cyclists from Kotte to Colombo.
