Milo to help children learn remotely

7 March, 2021

Ten thousand children will receive support to the value of Rs. 10 million from Milovia, Nestle’s latest campaign, in the form of laptops, tabs, reloads, scooters, bikes and more to help them learn remotely and stay physically active,at a time where many are shielding indoors from the pandemic and limiting the time spent outside their homes. The brand will gift 1,000 children every week via raffle draws up to April 18.

Category Marketing Manager for Milo, Mohamed Ali said, “The Milo brand has always been about nourishing our consumers to go further in life. Supporting and encouraging them to stay active and lead a healthy lifestyle has been a big part of this, but we wanted to go one step further this year.

“We heard many stories of families struggling with remote learning and online classes, especially those with more than one child, as they didn’t have enough devices or data to cope. We also heard of parents worried about the lack of outdoor playtime and physical activity for their children. This purpose-driven campaign is our way of supporting parents with the resources they need to help their children go further in life,” he said. Dinodi Dissanayaka of Anuradhapura is one of the first week’s winners. She said the laptop she won will make a world of difference to her family. “My sister and I follow online classes on our mother’s mobile phone and sometimes even have classes at the same time, which makes it difficult. We took part in the competition hoping against hope that we would win an electronic device to help us follow classes better and complete our school work easily. Thank you so much Nestlé Milo.”

Sethika Metunija of Piliyandala won a children’s scooter, which his father says will help him and his sister get at least half an hour of exercise a day. “We never expected to win but we’re so happy our children have won something that will not only keep them entertained but also active. Keeping them at home for days on end isn’t easy, so this is very much appreciated.” One thousand winners will be chosen every week at random via a raffle draw, as per the terms of the competition, to win laptops, tabs, reloads, scooters, bikes, skateboards, basketballs, footballs, skipping ropes, headsets, or school bags.
