President Gotabaya Rajapaksa dismissing Opposition allegations that members of the current Government were behind the Easter Sunday terror attacks said not just the former President and the Prime Minister but the entire Government must be held responsible for the 2019 mayhem.
Speaking in Giribawa in the Kurunegala district, at the Gama Samaga Pilisandarak program yesterday, where he launched an electricity project for the villagers, the President said, “The inefficient Government was a major factor in the events on April 21, 2019.”
Quoting the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) which investigated the explosions, the President said the previous Government had not given priority to national security since 2015.
He pledged that the perpetrators of the terror attacks will be brought to book by his Government. – MF
