Harry Potter

28 March, 2021

My favorite book, as you all might have guessed, is Harry Potter. It is written by the world famous author, J.K Rowling. This entire, marvellous and out - of – the - box idea of ‘Harry Potter’ came to her when she was riding a train from Manchester, to London, in England.

The book sold over 500 million copies over the world and has been translated into more than 79 different languages. The 7 Harry Potter novels soon become international blockbusters.

Many of you might not have read it thinking that it is a boring book since the title is “Harry Potter”. Well, I too thought that. My cousin was a big fan of the books or ‘Potterhead’ as they are called and she kept asking me to read it. I regret not reading the books 5 or 6 years ago when my friends first introduced them to me.

When I read the books, they were so captivating that I would bury my nose into one of them and wouldn’t look up from it until I was done reading the very last words of the book.

The story is about the bespectacled, Harry who lives with his aunt, uncle and Dudley, their pampered son who very often bullied him. After 10 miserable years, Harry learns that he is a wizard and was able to earn a place at the Wizarding school in Britain, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry struggles through many of his years at Hogwarts along with his best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

This book has taught me so many new words and has improved my English. I would like to thank J.K Rowling on behalf of all the Harry Potter fans or Potterheads around the world. Thank you, Joanne Rowling!

Her books inspired me to begin reading other books as well. It is amazing how she can grab my attention and pull me into a different world through the books, until my mother shouts at me saying, “Put that book down!”
