Hath maaluwa

The hath maaluwa (seven vegetable curry) is a traditional Sri Lankan mixed vegetable curry and it is supposed to be 1,500 years old. It is serverd with kiribath during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. Sometimes, it is also used during other festive occasions such as weddings. Tender pumpkin leaves, cashewnut, jak seeds, long beans and brinjals are some popular ingredients for the hath maluwa.

Kiri bath (milkrice) is a standard for the New Year Festive meal. In fact, this is the first food item that is prepared after the hearth is lit at the auspiciues time.
