World League volleyball gets underway

The World League Volleyball Championship which was introduced in 2018 makes its way back this year titled as Volleyball Nations League (VNL). The first two years 2018-19 saw Russia dominate the men’s category while the USA women Spikers carried away the titles on both occasions.

The championship commenced in Italy last week and continues until June 27 with 16 men’s and sixteen women’s teams representing the same number of countries.

The winner of each category is to receive a purse worth one million US dollars while the first and second runner ups are to collect 500,000 and 300,000 respectively.

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia and USA contest the men’s segment.

Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Dominican Republic, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey and the USA contest the women’s segment.
