A legend in Sri Lanka’s Telecommunications sector, Eng. Malraj Balapitiya retired from the SLT-Mobitel Group after completing over 37 years of service. At the time of his retirement, he was the CEO of SLT Digital Info Services (Pvt) Ltd, a member of the SLT-Mobitel Group of Companies.
Balapitiya, a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka, counts over 37 years of experience at various strata of SLT’s administration. He swiftly climbed the corporate ladder from Technical Officer to Regional Telecom Engineer, Head of the Province, and to General Manager before his appointment as CEO of SLT Publications (Pvt) Ltd. Later he transformed SLT Publications to SLT Digital Info Services by revamping the entire product portfolio. In 2011, he was appointed CEO of SLT VisionCom (Pvt) Ltd. (2011-2016), a company focused on delivering services through IPTV technology under the SLT PEOTV brand name. During his tenure, he was instrumental in launching a world class IPTV platform to deliver entertainment.
