Manohari Abeyesekera elected to CIMA global council

Director and Chairperson Audit Committee of the National Savings Bank (NSB), Manohari Abeyesekera, has been elected by the CIMA members to represent South Asia in the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA - UK) Global Council for a three-year term from June this year.

She obtained her BSc from the University of Colombo in 1998 with a First-Class Honours. She also read for the master’s in business administration (MBA) in 2005 from the University of Colombo.

Abeyesekera has served CIMA for over a decade in various leadership roles. She served as a CIMA Sri Lanka Board Member for two terms from 2012 to 2014 and from 2015 to 2017, and in the CIMA MESANA Board in 2017. She was the Chairperson of CIMA Sri Lanka Country Network Panel 2019, CIMA’s centenary year. She currently serves as a Member of the CIMA Global Member Engagement Committee 2020-2021.   Earlier, she was at Hayleys Group spanning an 18-year career as the Head- Strategic Business Development, Director, Hayleys Group Services and Director, Fentons Limited up to October 2020. An Alumna of KPMG, Abeyesekera is a Fellow Member of CIMA and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
