Hockey in complete limbo

18 July, 2021

Hockey in Sri Lanka is at a standstill with officials squabbling over who can contest for presidency at their AGM.

A former president of the Sri Lanka Hockey Association (SLHA) had made a case against one candidate saying that he is not eligible to contest. Now the case has gone to the Appeal Court that will delay the ruling by another week.

The two who have come forward to contest are Rohana Dissanayake who is an MP for the Matale district and the president of the Matale District Hockey Association. The other is SSP DSK Pushpakumara who has played cricket and hockey for Police SC.

Meanwhile the players seem to be kicking their heels in desperation of having to stay indoors. (TBR)
