Telephone consultations only for those registered

Only Covid-19 positive patients who register themselves via the hotline 1390 will be provided consultation to manage Covid-19 at home and therefore, they need to get their telephone numbers registered through the MOH or PHI, Health Promotion Bureau (HPB) Director Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawa said.

He told the media at the HPB yesterday, that all Covid-19 positive patients under the home isolation and management system should register themselves. The patients can get the services of the hotline after registration, he said.

Health Ministry Media Secretary Viraj Abeysinghe said that the Health Ministry had placed asymptomatic patients and patients with mild symptoms above the age of two and below 65 under the home isolation and management system. It will be available islandwide with a team of 1,000 trained doctors.

The hotline 1390 is available 24x7. The patient can obtain the service of the call centre and the medical care team for 14 days and an additional seven days after completing the initial period.

The patient can be hospitalised if complications or breathing difficulties develop. Patients are placed under this system with their consent, he said.
