Taylor Swift is “Blown Away” by Halsey’s new album

12 September, 2021

Halsey dropped their fourth album, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power on August 27 and we haven’t stopped listening to it since — and it appears Taylor Swift can relate. The folklore creator took to Twitter to share her love of Halsey’s latest work.

As noted by Billboard, Taylor tweeted about If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power on Sunday, August 29, sharing Halsey’s initial post about the album’s release. “I’m blown away by @halsey’s artistry and commitment to taking risks,” Tay wrote. “Giving us all a brave new era to dive into and explore together. If I can’t have love, I want power is out now- please stream and buy the album!!”

Halsey responded to Taylor’s tweet with a string of emojis and some sweet words. “Thank you T ... means so so much,” they wrote. If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power is an album about identity and the changes in Halsey’s life, namely pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood. (Halsey’s child, Ender, was born in July.) “This album is a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth,” they shared in July when debuting the cover. When the album dropped, Halsey wrote of their work, “I have waited my whole life to be exactly where I am right now, and at times I have enjoyed the darkness along the way. It’s now your turn.” It’s clear that If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power is a deeply meaningful project for Halsey and that they’re entering a new era of artistry and impact.

Taylor and Halsey have been friends — and fans of one another — for several years. Halsey previously gave Taylor’s evermore some love on Twitter and defended Taylor during her battle for her music. We can’t help but wonder if Taylor made one of her signature silk baby blankets for little Ender, just like she did for her friends Gigi Hadid and Katy Perry. Either way, we love to see our faves supporting one another so wonderfully.
