The Gingerbread man

26 September, 2021

Once upon a time there lived an old woman who loved to bake. One day, she made a gingerbread man and put him in the oven to bake. When she took out the tray from the oven up jumped the little gingerbread man and ran away.

The old woman ran after him brandishing a rolling pin. She shouted “little gingerbread man stop. I want to eat you for my tea.” But the gingerbread man did not stop. He ran on and on and the little old woman ran after him.

On the way the gingerbread man met a cow. The cow shouted, "stop, little gingerbread man, I want to eat you for my tea”.

But the little gingerbread man did not stop. He ran on and on. The cow started to chase him .

Now, both the old woman and the cow chased the little gingerbread man. On the way the little gingerbread man met a horse. The horse shouted” stop, little gingerbread man, I want to eat you for my tea’ But, did the little gingerbread man stop? Oh, no. he ran faster than ever. The horse chased the little gingerbreadman.

Soon, the little gingerbread man came to a river and there he met a crafty fox.

"I will helpyou to cross the river “, the fox said to the little gingerbread man. "Jump on to my tail”. The little gingerbread man did so but his feet got wet”. “My feet are wet” grumbled the little gingerbread man to the fox. “Jump on to my back” said the fox.

The little gingerbread man did so but his feet was still wet. He told the fox "my feet are still wet”. “Jump on to my head” said the fox. The little gingerbread man jumped on to the head and the fox went snap and gobbled him up. The old woman, the cow and the horse watched from the river bank and went home sadly thinking of the tea they had missed.
