Over 80 schools in the Southern Province that covers Galle, Matara and Hambantota are expected to benefit when the Weeraketiya National Cricket Stadium is completed under the directions from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the Sports Ministry.
The stadium, which will be completed in two stages, will include five centre turf wickets, five practice side wickets, two concrete side wickets, scoreboard, a sight screen and ground machinery worth over five million rupees.
The first stage of the stadium is expected to be completed within three to four months and thereafter it will be handed over to the Hambantota Cricket Association.
