A comedy of errors by Sri Lanka enabled Seychelles to pull off a sensational 1-0 win in their Mahinda Rajapaksa football tournament match under lights at the Race Course ground yesterday.

The much anticipated home team put up a pathetic performance in a match they should have won with many scoring chances squandered as they gradually lost control of the game.

The Sri Lankans lost several opportunities when their kicks either hit the uprights or were deflected away by the goal-keeper.

Seychelles had a golden opportunity in the opening minutes of the game when their skipper Benot Marie missed a penalty offered for a hand-ball on the part of a Sri Lanka player.

Sri Lanka infused a 5-2-3 playing pattern which encouraged them to play a semi defensive strategy and both teams took the half time without scoring.

After the turn-around Seychelles put up a much improved performance and were rewarded when acting skipper Warren Eric Millie scored in the 68th minute of the game when he headed the ball into the net off a corner kick that foxed goal-keeper Sujan Perera.
