Hong Kong outplayed South Korea 33-7 while Japan’s women knocked out China 14-12 to with the Cup Championship titles respectively at the Dialog Asian Rugby Sevens tournament hosted by Asia Rugby and sponsored by Dialog Axiata at the Sports Centre ground in Dubai under lights yesterday.
After ousting the reigning champions Japan in the semifinals, the much anticipated Korean team failed to do anything creative to maintain their winning streak as the Hong Kong men put up a belligerent performance to crush them and cruise home with a comfortable victory.
However, the Japanese women’s team continued their dominance to retain the Cup after some close calls before the match culminated in a nail-biting finish.
The Sri Lankan women’s team entered the Plate final and lost to Thailand 45-0.
