S-lon conducts regional programs for plumbers

S-lon Lanka (Pvt) Ltd which is a subsidiary of The Capital Maharaja Group, recently conducted three regional Plumber’s Club programmes in Pelmadulla, Ambalangoda and Galle. The programs were conducted on November 9th at Silver Ray Hotel, Palmadulla, on November 11th at Sea Breeze Hotel, Ambalangoda and on 30th November at Aradhana Hotel, Galle.

Established in October 2001 under the leadership of S.C. Weerasekara, Group Director of The Capital Maharaja Group, the S-lon Plumber’s Club was founded with the objective to develop and evolve the knowledge, technique and standards surrounding the modern plumbing industry and thereby uplifting the social acceptance of the plumbing profession.Over the last two decades the club has grown to a base of over 8,000 active members who benefit from the practical and informative area-based sessions conducted under the guidance of some of S-lon’s most respected senior professionals in the field.

These programs explore the growing trends, opportunities, challenges and qualifications in the current market. The end goal is to continually develop the local plumbing industry in addition to improving the professional and personal standards of plumbers. The Plumber Club extends career guidance and support towards developing plumbers’ career prospects and attaining career recognition through NTT (National Trade Test) and National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) with the partnership of NAITA.

S-lon Plumber’s Club offers an insurance scheme for its members. From this, it inculcates a habit of saving for their future and it will support and protect them during injuries and demises. S-lonalso initiated“Nena Saviya”, a scholarship scheme for children of S-lon Plumber’s Club members. Children who excel in Grade 5 scholarship exams will receive financial support until A/Ls.

The recently concluded programmes were conducted under the stipulated hygienic regulations and held in partnership with the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA).

Speaking at one of the events, Group Director of Capital Maharaja Group Weerasekera said, “We have a duty as a leading entity in the local industry to motivate and continue to develop the industry standards and evolve this profession to adapt to modern times”.

He went on to speak about the continued support and involvement of the local plumbing community stating “it is heartening to see that the efforts of our initiative are being realized by professionals who are motivated to uplift and take their profession to great heights.

Therefore, improving the knowledge and technology know how of plumbers is key for the country’s sustenance.

On the other hand, obtaining recognition and social acceptance, protecting the plumbing community and their families are important for the plumbing industry as whole”.

The programs were held under the guidance of Manager Product Development and S-lon Plumber’s Club Manager, Mr. MohomedShiraastogether with Group Director of Capital Maharaja Group S.C. Weerasekera.

Other representatives from S-lon included CEO of S-lon Lanka (Pvt) Ltd Gehan Amarasinghe, Sanath Chaminda - Sales Manager, Prasanna Chandrasekeran - Manager, Dealer Sales and Development, Mohamed Rizny – Brand Manager and S-lon area Sales Representatives. Several officials of the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority also participated in the programs.
