Alone at home

2 January, 2022

One day, I was at home with my mother. We were watching television when suddenly my mom remembered that she had to buy some bread for the night meal.

When she left, I realised something I was finally all alone in the house! No one was there to tell me what to do and what not to do. Oh, what a joy, what a good chance for me!

But then, I suddenly realised it was quiet … too quiet!

I slowly walked through the house and into the living room. There I saw that my mom and I had made a huge mess, throwing candy wrappers all over the place. And the couch…. Oh!

Well, the couch was filled with popcorn all around it!

Wait, did we make that mess? I didn’t remember that..

Then suddenly, I heard a knock on the door! I was terrified. Oh my gosh!

I quickly ran up the stairs and into my bedroom. I shut the door behind me. Someone was still knocking harder than ever. I could feel my legs and my hands shaking in fear. But then, I had a great idea. I knew what to do!!

I ran down the stairs, protecting myself with dolls and fluffy pillows! I wrapped all my dolls and toys around me like a shield and tied it up. Then I tied my pillows around my back and wrapped the sheet around my head. I was well protected now. Yes, now I wasn’t afraid at all.

I bravely pulled open the door and shouted “freeze!” Someone stood there tall and dark like a tower.

But to my surprise, it was my mother – she was scared to death because I had just stabbed her with my hard iron ruler.

Oh what a relief. I hugged her and we both sat down again to our dinner. Of course that was long after because she had to help me remove all the pillows and toys I had tied around me.
