The sacred relics will be enshrined today in the new Asi disi Shakya Sugatha Maha Seya of the Kuragala Cave Temple which is currently being restored with state intervention, under the supervision of Archaeology Department.
The ancient temple in Balangoda was destroyed due to encroaching. The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited is the print media sponsor of the event which will be held from today till January 18.
The Kuragala Temple is being rebuilt on the advice of Ven. Wathurakumbure Dhammarathana Thera, in a 100 acre land and 65 percent of the construction work is now complete. (Pic by Sulochana Gamage)
